FAQ

Questions, in plain words.

Not a medical device. Rammy is not certified as a medical device and is not a replacement for emergency services.

Is Rammy a medical device?

No. It is not certified as a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, or monitor someone the way a medical device does. The My Health screen is a place to keep numbers she or the family speak. It is not medical advice.

Will it call 911?

No. If Rammy sees a fall or a wave for help, it pauses the TV and asks, “are you okay?” If there is no answer, it alerts family. It does not contact emergency services. In an emergency, call 911.

Can it miss a fall?

Yes. Cameras have blind spots, and a person can fall outside the picture. Rammy is an extra voice in the house, not a promise that every fall will be seen.

Does it record video or audio?

Rammy does not record video from the webcam or the Wi-Fi cameras. What she tells the companion stays on the home computer. Live video calls and family alerts do use the internet. The privacy policy explains those pieces.

What computer does it need?

A Windows PC or a Mac connected to the TV. No special graphics card. A webcam in the Logitech C922 class covers the room the TV is in. Optional Wyze Cam v3 or Tapo C110 cameras, about $20 to $30, can watch other rooms. A mini PC is only needed if that room has no computer.

Does every button work by voice?

Yes. Watch TV, My Meds, Call Family, and Help work by voice. She can say “Rammy” anytime. A ram with a headset sits in the corner of the screen.

How do video calls work?

She says who to call. The call is free. On her television, an incoming call can answer by itself. Family answers or places a call from Rammy Alerts.

What is Rammy Alerts?

It is the phone app for family and nurses, already live at hearingassistant.app/rammy-alerts/. It rings for calls and alerts, calls home, shows vitals, keeps a visitor list, and updates medicines with a history. Install steps are on the Rammy Alerts page.

Does Fitbit work today?

Not yet. Fitbit support is planned. Until then, she can say a reading, or family can enter it.

Does it need the internet?

The companion runs on the home computer. Family texts, video calls, and Rammy Alerts need an internet connection so a phone can ring.
